The Bible has much to say about the correlation between the sins of a nation and whether that nation is falling under the laws of what is described as curses or blessings.

Leviticus 26: 14-18 states, “But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all commandments, but that ye break my covenant; I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.”

Horrific natural disasters, an approaching economic crash and attacks from our enemies, both terrorists and nations in the future with weapons of mass destruction, are not God’s fault but our own. We deny the God of the Bible and try to fabricate a god that we create according to our opinion of what God should be like, just like many transgressors did in the Bible and throughout history. We don’t recognize sin (abortion, homosexuality, fornication etc.) so how can we repent, and without repentance, how do we stop these unprecedented crises from happening? We continue to eat from the forbidden tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which is our self-centeredness and rebellion. In doing so, we fall under the influence of Satan and not the umbrella of protection and blessings of God.

During the American Revolutionary War, the Continental Congress declared on June 12, 1775, “Congress...considering the present critical, alarming and calamitous state...do earnestly recommend, that Thursday, the 12th of July next, be observed by the inhabitants of all the English colonies on this continent, as a Day of Public Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer, that we may with united hearts and voices, unfeignedly confess and deplore our many sins and offer up our joint supplications to... humbly beseeching Him to forgive our iniquities.”

America’s second president, John Adams, proclaimed a national day of humiliation, thanksgiving, fasting and prayer in 1798 and 1799 as Adams understood the importance and truth about confession of sin by humbling ourselves and repenting with fasting and prayer.

On April 30, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln said about the civil war, “We have been recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that in all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us. It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.” President Lincoln recognized America was being cursed with the Civil War because of our sins which included slavery.

During World War I, another American president proclaimed, “I, Woodrow Wilson, president of The United States of America, do hereby proclaim Thursday, the 30th day of May, a day already freighted with sacred and stimulating memories, a day of humiliation, prayer and fasting, and do exhort my fellow citizens... to assemble on that day in their several places of worship and there, as well as in their homes, to pray Almighty God that He may forgive our sins and shortcomings as a people and purify our hearts to see and love the truth, to accept and defend all things that are just and right, and to purpose only those righteous acts and judgments which are in conformity with His will.”

On May 26, 1940, when the British forces faced annihilation by the Nazis on the beaches of Dunkirk, King George VI spoke on national radio. He called for the British people to pray and plead for God’s help, and to turn back to God in repentance.

I support President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, but when they both spoke to America calling for God’s intervention after Hurricane Harvey smashed Houston, neither one used the word repentance. God will not protect America from these terrible disasters, our economy crashing, civil riots, war, terrorism, and various attacks including those with chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, unless there is a repentance for sin throughout our country including abortion and homosexuality. If we don’t repent, we might as well quit going through the motions of asking God to protect and bless a back-slidden rebellious people that deserve judgment.

We will receive it, as did the self-righteous people of Sodom and Gomorrah and the people of Noah’s day, which was a time of universal sin just as we have now in America and the nations of the world!! Proverbs 28:9 states, “He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.” Read 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 and Isaiah 1:10-16; 59:1-18. Prayer alone is not enough, God requires repentance!!

2 Chronicles 36:14-21 tells us that God gives warnings through His word and people speaking the truth by preaching (radio and television). However, if the warnings of God are not heeded to return back to God through repentance and living with Judeo-Christian values originally taught and adhered to in America, then God will allow our national sins to lead to national calamities falling on our nation, including being defeated and taken into captivity by our enemies.

America, Great Britain and other nations are facing, on a national level, such a barrage of terrible consequences for the total rebellion of people against the morality and values of God taught in the Holy Scriptures. Their motions of praying without repentance is now an abomination to God Himself and calamities of an apocalyptic nature are going to increase until The Great Tribulation is upon us in all its fury and death. When man boasts of his sin on a national level as the homosexuals and sodomites did in Sodom and Gomorrah, and now nations like America and Britain are doing, certain judgment is imminent. Only the person who is trying to make God into his own likeness and does not know or respect and honor the Bible will be fooled, as were the hypocrites in Jesus’ day that saw their nation go into captivity and judgment. Read Jeremiah 2:1-37; 3:12-13; 4:1-2, 5:11-31.

The only solution and answer for America and every nation is to repent as did Nineveh, that great ancient sinful metropolis in Noah’s day. They were only forty days away from destruction, yet they truly repented and God forgave, spared and blessed them. Read Jonah 3:1-10.

I pray Lord, let America, and her leaders in the churches, as well as government, call on the nation to repent of her sins of abomination, so God can once again protect and bless The United States of America.

Please help me warn the nations through your giving and prayers and don’t forget to order my book, “The Science of Judgment”.
