“And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” — Mark 12:33 (AMP)
As intercessors, we understand sacrifice. We sacrifice our time in prayer, our sleep in night watches, our comfort in fasting, and often our finances in supporting the work of the Kingdom. We offer praise when we do not feel like praising and worship when circumstances are difficult. These sacrifices are precious before God.
Yet Jesus reminds us of something even greater.
In Mark 12:33, He declares that loving God with all our heart, understanding, soul, and strength, and loving our neighbor as ourselves, is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.
This means that before God looks at the sacrifice, He looks at the heart offering it.
We may pray for nations, ministries, churches, leaders, and families, but if our hearts carry prejudice, bitterness, hatred, resentment, pride, or partiality, then we have missed the very foundation upon which true intercession is built. God desires not only prayers from our lips but love flowing from our hearts.
The Lord is not merely seeking intercessors who pray long prayers; He is seeking sons and daughters who love Him completely and reflect His love toward others. Our prayers gain greater weight when they flow from a heart surrendered to God and purified by His love.
Let us continually ask the Holy Spirit to search our hearts. Are we carrying unforgiveness? Do we have hatred toward certain people, races, tribes, denominations, or social classes? Are we praying for others while secretly harboring resentment toward them?
The greatest sacrifice is not merely what we give up; it is giving God our whole heart.
May our prayers, worship, fasting, and service be rooted in genuine love for God and sincere love for our neighbor. Then our sacrifices will rise before Him as a pleasing offering, flowing from a heart that reflects His own.
We appreciate all that you do. We are looking forward to the ministry work still left for this year. Pray for support that we will accomplish each mission.
